An Uncomprehended Piece of... Fiction

The Light of Life

Heavy drops of autumn rain were falling on the pavement, their rounded curves reflecting the light of street lamps. A splash of foot in a puddle, a few steps across the road to an empty bus-stop and a displeased look at a big building. Thank goodness you have an umbrella, or this day would be even worse. Shivers run down your spine; it's not winter yet, but one couldn't call today's temperature summer. You're not in a hurry because you're late, you just want to be in a warm place at last and curse this Friday morning.

She was the first one here. She ran into the school building and shook her big blue umbrella, so a shower of water could rest comfortably against the wall. In a slower pace she made her way upstairs, into a small lecture room still in the grasp of darkness. Feathered animals from a showcase stared at her with blind eyes.
Are you afraid?
She turned around. Not a person anywhere.
Are you afraid of what you have forgotten?
She looked like a little scared doe, turning around and one by one looking in every nonexistent corner.

You can't see anything anywhere. Pulling away the blinds, you let in a bit of light. The dim light uncovers short, dull shadows and you sit down on one of the chairs, rest your tired head on a desk, falling asleep. An ugly clown creeps into your dream. You wake up with a start thinking whether the cold touch on your shoulder was real.

I will bring you to your memories!
‘What?!’ she straightened.
A tall dark-haired boy entered the classroom, probably a student from another department who also had this lecture. ‘Hello.’
She greeted him with a nod of the head as he sat at the front desk.

Nice, you think, and he suddenly turns around and smiles. You're not frightened, because you can't see. Don't want to see. But you anticipate that something isn't right. With you or with him?

‘How long have you been waiting?’
‘A few minutes. It hasn't been long,’ she answered.
‘I wasn't asking about that.’
She frowned, a bit dense, tilting her head to the side. ‘Hm?’
‘How long have you been waiting for a successor?’
‘What are you talking about?’
The boy sighed, turned around completely and rested his chin on her desk: ‘I am Héroj.’ He endowed her with an intriguing yellowish-brown gaze that caused her heart to beat faster. She didn't understand completely yet, so he decided to explain.
‘Smile, please,’ he whispered in a voice radiating some kind of supernaturality. Soft hues of magical power were flashing around the smiling lips, golden sparks in the eyes uncovered a bit of his kind nature.
She felt she can't resist and smiles. How could she not obey, when Héroj’s sad face changed into such a good-looking appearance?
The rain stopped, its little watery fingers stopped tapping on the invisible keys of the windowsills. The wind blew scaring off the clouds like mischievous little creatures playing on a blue meadow. Weak rays found their way to them, embracing them in warm arms for what was to be the last time for a long while. Like a promise to a goodbye.
‘You...’ she started, but fell silent taken aback. As the light caressed his face, it showed what she didn't want to see. Horns, slightly bent backwards, and yellow eyes. It was like a phantom image, a fiction of fantasy.
‘Smile, Eos, because today I'll take over.’

You remember. It's hard to believe reality that you've been denying for so long. Not because it's unbelievable for you, you just wanted to be like them. Hide among them and forget. You have thought you can escape the destiny that has been foretold. Defying the idea of destruction of happiness, you cleared traces on the way into the future, but you always held the power over what your heart loves in your hands. And it was this heart that betrayed you.

‘Héroj, please.’
‘I've been looking for you for so long, Eos. I won't back down now.’
Tears glittered in her eyes and the sun sadly hid behind the clouds.

Your successor had a smile on his face, but you knew it wouldn't last. The long-awaited heir will be morose, dark, gloomy... And the weather too. It's the end of sunny days, end of golden smiles through the crying sky, end of blinding reflections on water or snowdrifts. He is going to kill all happiness your confused heart has created. Even though you try with all your might, you can't do it. How can you face his blade with a smile?

Héroj pulled out a dagger, grabbing scared Eos firmly by the hand. He shook his head when she looked towards the door. ‘Don't run.’
She tried to hit him with her free hand and wring away from his grasp, but he dodged and twisted her wrist painfully. Gushes of tears were running down her cheeks. Lightning flashed outside and it thundered.

You're furious and frightened to death. For long centuries you have been the only one... Weatherchanger.

‘No!’ again she tried to free herself, but the bones gave in and a horrible pain showed up with a snap. She cried out, almost howled.
He firmly grasped her hands and when she tried to stand up, he knocked her down with a hit on the head. Blade caressed the right side of her neck.

If you thought you could survive, you were naive. You're like them. Mortal. You placed yourself among them, Eos, you wanted for them, what you wanted for yourself. Nothing more, nothing less.
The neck stings and hurts terribly, you can barely feel your hands and you know fingers are now cold as ice. Something feels warm against your left cheek, eyes see dark red on the desk and he... He is sitting across from you, watching. Sadly looks into your blue eyes like into a deep well. You look into the gold and maybe, just maybe, you manage one last smile.

-------------------------------------------------------------

story © K. Nagini Drake
translation © Shinigami Meiling Wu

P.S.: I wonder how to get to Paris on November 22nd. >,> Oh, that X JAPAN...!

Well... Today I had to go to the customs.... XD; And pay.... but not that much. I think I'm the only one who noticed the price (in yen) WAS writen both on the package itself and in the papers... But somehow it was moved down so nobody else noticed. And thus they asked me how much it was and if I paid for the shipping. Well, I told them the price (which I didn't remember so I made it up) and said the shipping was for free. Which it wasn't. XD But they didn't have to know, did they? >:3 I still had to pay a bit... but I believe it's nothing compared to how much it would be if they knew the real price.
-_-; I think I'll try YesAsia next time. Maybe they can avoid this circus...

Anyway... :D ...here it goes:

*_*

<3

I'm in love. But all the plants grew during the night, so it didn't really look that good. After that I was strolling the wheat part where Pata was before...

Later that day I met him and we were walking through some other wheat field with beautiful young green spikelets, which were pleasantly tickling our hands. I told him I went through his field part after the concert and that these spikelets looked more ranged. He said I was right and stroked the wheat. Then we were talking about X and I found some peacock feathers and said that Heath looked kind of funny with those feather-like things in his hair (look at him in the Night of Creation) and that it reminded me of a hen pheasant. Pata started giggling and said he didn't like that either. I noded and added that we (me and whoever else) were looking at him, thinking: "We like you, Heath, we really do, but you look weird."

Then the dream changed and there was a small house were al the guest guitarists and staff were. And I don't know why, but there was some problem and suddenly everybody was looking for Heath. Someone realized that they saw him sleeping upstairs a few hours ago and we luckily found him eventually...

:3

X JAPAN, hide memorial live!
100,000 fans to fill Aji Stadium!

On March 20th it was revealed that a memorial event for X Japan guitarist hide (Matsumoto Hideto, deceased 33years of age) who's sudden passing is coming up to its 10th anniversary on May 2nd is to be held on May 3rd and 4th at Ajinomoto Stadium Tokyo Metropolitan Choufu city. It will be X JAPAN's first ever memorial live with all members set to perform. In addition, bands LUNA SEA, Dir En Grey and approximately 20 other bands will perform to a crowd of 100,000.

According to sources close to X JAPAN, the event is to be sponsored by hide's younger brother and produced by YOSHIKI. 100,000 people are expected to attend over the 2days to be held at Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo on May 3rd and 4th following hide's death memorial which is May 2nd.

The event is to be called hide memorial summit. Living up to its name the summit is set to include the performances of such big name artists as LUNA SEA, Dir en Grey and T.M. Revolution, as well as X JAPAN with all its members.

Amongst the performers, attention is being paid to a so called INVINCIBLE BAND. A compilation of bands, friends and staff that were dear to hide. Drummer YOSHIKI selected the guitarist and vocalists (members unannounced) for this mega band.

The memorial concert was originally planned to take place after hide's death. However, plans were stopped because of the huge mental shock of the tragedy to YOSHIKI. But with X JAPAN's reformation last year YOSHIKI thought they should hold the memorial concerts for hide now that 10years have passed and that things have settled down a bit.

Another source elaborated that YOSHIKI doesn't want the memorial to be a sad occasion and wants to make it a noisy and festive event that shocks and excites fans just as hide would have done. The event is set to be a memorable performance fitting of the 10th year anniversary of hide's shocking passing

YOSHIKI: putting his life on the line to drum

After a 10year silence, X JAPAN is set to perform renunion shows at Tokyo Dome to a total of 150,000 fans between the 28th and 30th of this month. Each performance carries a different title Night of Destruction (28th March), Night of Recklaceness (29th), Night of Creation (30th), with the setlists set to be different on each night. YOSHIKI: I wont be holding back at any of the performances. I'll risk my life to perform. 5 ambulance vehicles will be ready at the scene to react not only to excited fans, but for YOSHIKI who's neck and body carry injury.
Police announced that over 50,000 fans crammed into Tokyo's Tsukijihonganji shrine for in 1998 for hide's funeral, which made big headlines on the news.

Original full artcile: SANSPO.com
Source : Special thanks to Eri of Endless dream Japanese fansite
Translated by Danny (feel free to repost!)

---------------

I hope he survives.
Because I know I'd forget where I found it...

Orient-Extrême: First, about your career. I would say there are two main periods in X Japan: the "aggressive rock" era of the 80’s, with Blue Blood and Vanishing Vision; and the more "romantic" era, initiated by Jealousy. To you, does one of these two eras represents more X Japan than the other?
YOSHIKI: This is an interesting question. I don’t really know. But I think both of them equally represent X Japan.

Orient-Extrême: I was hoping to get a clue about the future reunification of X Japan… Do you already know if the new X Japan will be something like your early work, or like… Forever Love, for example ?
YOSHIKI: Well, I haven’t completely decided yet, but I’ve been thinking about it for the past several months, because last year, my old vocalist, Toshi, contacted me. But I’m not really gonna try to resurrect the old X Japan; if I do it, it could be for just one tour, or something like this. I just wanna put a period on the X Japan era ; because, after Toshi left X Japan, hide and I were supposed to reform. When he died, he left me out dry, so I haven’t really put a period to it. To move on. I don’t know if it’s good, or bad, I just want to "do something". So if I do it, it may just be X Japan’s old song… there’s actually one song I wrote after hide died… so there could be one new song.

Orient-Extrême: So you don’t have particular ambitions about that reunification that actually won’t be a real one?
YOSHIKI: I don’t know. It’s too painful. I mean : there’s no way to resurrect X Japan. Without hide, there’s no X Japan. I just want to properly finish X Japan, for him, but also for myself… because I just couldn’t move on, during the past ten years.

Orient-Extrême: About the future, on inevitable question : is there a precise final date for this so-called Violet UK album we’ve been waiting since 2002?
YOSHIKI: Yeah… it may sound too perfectionist. I’ve been recording and recording… and I believe now that it’s almost done. I’m just waiting for a good timing, to release it. So it’s pretty much done, I’ll finally be able to deliver it to people.

Orient-Extrême: We’re waiting for it. What about SKIN? There’s been the first member’s meeting in March, in Los Angeles. Did both of you immediately have the same way of thinking SKIN’s music?
YOSHIKI: Well… before we moved forward, I kind of told them that I wanted something hard. You know… I don’t want anything pop in this band. So it WILL be hard. Still, it doesn’t mean we won’t make any ballad, it just won’t be pop. So yes, there was a common idea.

Orient-Extrême: SKIN lacked a bassist. Ju-ken, who’s usually one of Gackt musicians, played as a replacement during your first live. Is he going to be the one, or will there soon be another change?
YOSHIKI: I don’t know yet. At that time, of course, we didn’t have a bass player, so we asked him to play. But we haven’t decided anything. But this is a possibility… We just don’t know yet. It’s not like we’re keeping everything secret, you know! We REALLY don’t know yet.

Orient-Extrême: SKIN is a band which has international ambitions. Is it going to be exported in Europe? Do you plan tours or CD releases in Europe?
YOSHIKI: Oh, I hope so. I’d love to. Probably.

Orient-Extrême: Nothing planned, so far?
YOSHIKI: We’re gonna start planning very, very soon. Until now, we were just trying to finish that show, about last week or so; so we were just focusing on it, and were not thinking about anything else.

Orient-Extrême: By the way, what about this show? What did you think of it?
YOSHIKI: I think it was great. I mean: as a band, I really think it was ok. Of course, we could have performed better, but fans were just awesome, they supported us so much…

Orient-Extrême: Yet another project for you, since you’ve been entrusted with making original soundtrack of the new animated series The Rose of Versailles. How’s it going? Since the directors let you do whatever you want, where did you start from, to make that OST?
YOSHIKI: At that time, there were just using whatever I released, classic albums, whatever I composed. Here, it’s kind of difficult, because they don’t say anything. They just said: "do whatever you want". So I say "ok!" [laughs]. I don‘t know. We’ll see.

Orient-Extrême: Let’s just go back in time. A personal question, about one of your most popular singles, Tears. It seems there are two versions of the song: in the first one, Toshi talks with a low voice, during the last minutes. In the second, his voice disappeared. Is there an explanation?
YOSHIKI: Well, actually, I was the one talking (smiles). I was my voice.

Orient-Extrême (imitating seppuku): O-o-okay… Then why is there another version?
YOSHIKI: I don’t know. Usually I like to make different versions when I compose a song. But about that one, the version in which I talk was a little bit too personal… because I’m talking to my father, who’s just died at that time.

Orient-Extrême: Knowing that, one can understand why the “talking” version is simply the best. What kind of feelings helps you writing, if there are specific ones? More positive feelings, or more negative feelings?
YOSHIKI: I sure think about death, a lot. But it doesn’t mean I always think negatively : when I write a song, I’m gonna think about death, THEN I’m gonna think about life, the one we’re living, and I try to think about positive things. But in the end, everything comes from death, pretty much. And I’m gonna write songs till I die. So sure, pain helps me writing. If I can’t write, or can’t perform, certainly I’m not alive. Because everything I want is in music.

Orient-Extrême: About life. Recently, you’ve kinda launched out into medical research, with experienced people’s collaboration, focusing on general music effects on human brain. You even played piano in front of mentally disease people. Are you still into it? Why those researches did interest you in the first place?
YOSHIKI: One of my family members had a heart disease; she had to go through an operation, and at that time, during the surgery, doctors played my classical music. The operation was successful. So I went to see them, and asked "why?" They told me that first, it helped everyone relax during the operation, and it also has effects on patient. I found that very interesting. I started talking about that around me, then met musical therapists, who help disable people, or mentally ill people… and while doing my researches, I realized than music DOES have some effects. So right now, I’m still experimenting. But before I die, make it five years or ten years, I’m gonna try to create a music or sounds that may affect brain to just heal some diseases.

Orient-Extrême: One last thing : I read on Toshi’s website that when both of you were recording Without you, you said "One song tells much more than million words".
YOSHIKI: Yes. Toshi and I met in Los Angeles in March. That was actually the second time we met face to face after hide’s death. And when he arrived, he just started talking about a lot of things, I don’t remember what, I just couldn’t concentrate. He kept talking and talking, and then I told him: "Do you know what? I don’t understand what you’re talking about". So he said "ok, then, let’s do one song". When he started singing and I started playing piano, I don’t know, I felt we were connected. Music can do something, more than words. It’s so hard to be connected just through words; music is the only way Toshi and I can be. Which means we still haven’t found the way out, and are still trying to figure it out. Because, our lives have always been so different… even before X Japan’s disband. But once he singed and I played, everything was okay. What’s what he meant, I think.

Orient-Extrême: Thank you so much for your answers, and just… please, keep doing music forever.
YOSHIKI: I will.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What/who made him resurrect X Japan? O_o

So, I registered on JRR forums (= JROCKREVOLUTION.com) the other day. O///O
*forum addicted*
And I'm bored so I went digging... And found this. XD

AkiKaza-chan wrote:
1. Gackt really is a 400+ year old vampire.
2. No, Mana does not speak.
3. BOU IS A GIRL.
4. Miyavi is currently on a bout of Miyavicaine, cauins him to burst out in random spazzattacks. Do Not approach.
5. hide is NOT dead. He's just invisible.
6. Yoshiki is your god.
7a. Kyo is cute.
7b. You must call him Kyo-chan.
8. Anyone who says Die must immediately drop dead.
9. Hey, Jesus.
10. My good virgin. (Yes this art was drawn by vomit).

Isn't no. 6 actually TRUE...? O_O *worships*

When it comes to no. 5, this is even better:

Kitters and many other fans wrote:
1. When Buck-Tick or Atsushi Sakurai himself is in the presence of an audience, there will always be at least one girl who screams out, "AT-CHAN!" at least once, regardless of whether or not she can be heard. IT NEVER FAILS.

2. Miyavi has pantaloons. No exceptions.

3. Hair styles that look razor sharp like they will cut your hands are always "in".

4. Always try to dye your hair a crazy color.

5. Kyo-chan will always be the most adorable jrocker in the world, and we will never stop calling him "Cute".

6. YOSHIKI + DRUMS = NO SHIRT. (And we love it! <3 XD)

7. There will always be fans who will tease Jrockers ceaselessly yet lovingly... Like calling Kyo 'cute' or 'Kyo-chan

8. Jrock's 'Vocalist Stereotypes' always will have that token short, vibrant vocalist at the front of the stage. 'Short' being under 5'4" (Ruki, Daishi, Yomi, Seth, Kyo, Maya, Keiyuu...)

9. No platform soles? No shoes.

10. Never question Mana's telepathic ability to transmit messages by mere hand-waving and dramatic poses.

11. Keep Jrock and religion as separate as humanly possible. (Forget religion! WORSHIP JROCK! XD)

12. J-rockers will always enjoy saying "fuck", and mispronouncing it as much as possible. Especially in lyrics.

13. Jrockers will always make their English tutors cringe by use of Engrish...even if they have the ability to speak perfect English. (Poor teachers... XD)

14. The happier your j-rocker is during a live, the more likely they are to flip you off.

15. Hiroto is a walking energy drink.

16. Kaoru of Dir en grey will never take off his shirt during a concert.

17. Gackt's dancing will always be a scary sight. (*rofl lol lmao*)

18. Learning how to bake cakes is NOT an option - every jrocker must have their own birthday cake even if there's no one but you around to eat it. (Haha, I've seen so many pictures with fan cakes... I guess fans are just lazy to cook so they rarely eat but since there are so many jrockers, they can always bake a cake for their birthdays and eat something at last... XD Better than starving, right?)

19. Mixing of different prints [ex: cow print and pink leopard] is perfectly acceptable. [See Miyavi]

20. The more facial piercings a JRocker has, the more of a softy he is (i.e. Hitsugi).

21. The more feminine a male JRocker looks, the deeper his voice is (i.e. Bou).

22. Jrockers will always be prettier than you. You can't out do them. Get over it. (Sexy lovable bastards! XD)

23. Every band has at least one member who flaunts and/or strips. See Uruha and Saga. (Who doesn't like Uruha's thighs?!?!?!??? XD)

24. Kiwamu eats babies. (According to Roger)

25. All vocalists will list Kiyoharu as their idol. (Who is it and why? >.>; *uninformed*)

26. Gold pants go with anything.

27. Water bottles are not just for drinking out of anymore.

28. All jrockers are required to have bleached hair at some point in their career or life. (Which is good. I love black but almost everyone was born with that hair-color in Japan, right? So it's kinda boring...)

29. Every jrocker (and their fans) will own at least one pair of creepers. (<,< So I'm not a fan then...?)

30. Most jrock hairstyles have their basis in 'the mullet.'

31. Jrockers must have at least one part of their hair dyed at all times.

32. The creepier and darker jrockers are, the cuter and more adorable they will seem.

33. There is always one 'GIRL' in the band. However, he is not actually a female. (Ahahahahaaaaaa.. XDDDD Sad but true.. in a way.)

34. - ~The You-Know-You're-A-Jrocker-When... Clause~ -
a) If your clothes actually make sense, you're probably NOT a jrocker.
b) If your hairstyle/color changes with every PV, you're probably a jrocker.
c) If you think fanservice consists of signing autographs after the show, you're probably NOT a jrocker.
d) If you shout random things during your live and people scream even though they cannot understand a word you're saying, you're probably a jrocker.
e) If you recieve packages from fans consisting of homemade plushies and Trident, you're probably a jrocker.

35. The majority of songs by Gackt will have a line that expresses something along the lines of, "I want to meet you just one more time".

36. - ~The Fingernail Clause~ -
Fingernails must be either:
a) Short enough to play one's instrument properly.
b) Three inches long at the very least and covered in glitter and fur.

37. It can be said that everyone and their mother fancies Atsushi Sakurai. (No... ^^;)

38. - ~The Hair Clause~ -
Jrocker hair must be either:
a) Long and straight.
b) Twice the size of your head.

39. Most Jrockers just do not look particularly good with their (allegedly) natural haircolors. (See: Kyo)

40. Every Jrocker has at one point made a TERRIBLE choice of hairstyle. (See Asagi's curls and Shinya's and Gackt's cornrows.) (TRUE~~!!!!)

41. If Gackt and Mana are ever forced to work with each other again, the world will implode, taking the rest of the universe with it. (Ohohohoooooo!!!! This is a quide to destroy the world!!! XDDD Let's make it fictional... <,< Hi, Mana! >,> Hi, Gackt! ^^ How are you guys today...? What about you two working together again? ^^ *innocent smile* ............................................................................................................... *Nage was killed by two furious Jrockers just because of bringing the idea* ... Nage Entertainment: Always glad to make your day! XD)

42. Until he sucks it up and shaves the chin pubes, Kaoru will continue receiving disposable razors as fanmail.

43. Yomi must do something highly vulgar/suggestive during every single off-stage video clip.

44. No one looks as good in a midriff shirt as Sakito.

45. Miyavi must always spaz out during an interview. (Thank all the gods for that! XDDDD Who else would we laugh at then? Ah... ok.. there's always Gackt to laught at.. XDDD)

46. antic cafe will always be kawaii no matter what!

47. HIDE WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR HEARTS and so will KAMI (True, true... <3)

48. Jrockers are forever jrockers. Even if they do death/heavy/gothic/speed/trash/black/power METAL.

49. Every band must have a "moody" or antisocial member- the mysterious one very little is known about [see Kaede]

50. No one is allowed to ever say a bad word against SiSeN or Peggy. EVER.

51. Yoshiki must always play drums shirtless and in tight pants! (We wouldn't mind him NOT wearing even those pants, would we? XD)

52. All Jrockers utilize keyboards but a keyboardist is usually nowhere to be found. (Unless there really IS a keyboardist.. XD But that's rare.)

53. Man + dress + makeup = fangasm-inducing.

54. It's okay if men are prettier than women. It's natural.

55. All jrockers WILL tease their fans in PVs and photo shoots to the point of insanity - BECAUSE THEY CAN! Get used to it.

56. Music videos are NOT videos, they're PVs.

57. Artists are NOT singers, they're VOCALISTS.

58. Men in fishnet stockings are just HOT!

59. Combining blades, battle, and dancing kitties in one concert is perfectly acceptable.

60. If you don't already love roses, after being exposed to jrock, you definately will.

61. There will ALWAYS be one song from EVERY artist that has a title SOOOO freaking long it's virtually impossible to remember the whole title.

62. Gackt's trousers are very artistic. They can make sounds!
